ENACTMENTS

here are a series of enacted live art objects in imagination to, and precipitation of, my senior thesis work...

(1/3) THE EVENT OF RED LEAF ;

This event is a choreographic function. Designed not to center the author/composer, but rather to create conditions which invite participation. Formal conditions which offer an environment to be inhabited, in which the inhabitants generate the life of the work.

*this event is designed for zoom.

Start:

- Introduction to the form of the performance;

"Hello everyone and welcome to the performance.There are two different ways to engage with this work; either as a performer or a spectator. If you would like to be a performer please type your name into the chat. If you would like to be a spectator please turn off your video."

- "The performance is structured like this: going by the order of the names in the chat, the performance will begin with me reading the title and then putting on the sound score. This is the environment of the work.

The person who typed their name into the chat first will begin an improvised enactment of any kind based on the title given. Next, the second name in the chat will write a one sentence description as they watch the performance, and read it aloud or type it into the chat after I call the 30 second mark.

Based on this sentence, the third name in the chat will begin performing based on the writer's description of the first performer.

This continues until we reach the last name in the list."

format/recipe:

- introduction to the work,

- choosing of roles(performer/spectator) and typing the names into the chat. making sure that there is a writer for every mover.

- type the cast list into the chat.

- read the title.

- play the music.

- performer1 performs ,

- writer2 writes,

- writer2 reads,

- performer3 performs'

- writer4 writes,

- writer4 reads,

- performer5 performs.

- at this point it can end or loop.

- if it loops performer1 becomes writer2,

- writer2 becomes performer3,

- onward

(2/3) IMAGINATIONS OF A ROOM ;

This audio file contains a poetic description of the work. In the backround are the sounds of traffic from the window, and Sufjan Steven's song Postlude - Critical Mass.

(3/3) PROPHECIES ;

I make these drawings obsessively. I don't know what they are of, only that they feel like maps of somewhere and something. today I am calling them prophecies of the work.
